BALDWIN, WIMBISH - Looking
for information on William BALDWIN family. William was born in 1721 in Amelia
Co. which became part of Prince Edward Co. In 1741 he married Ann WIMBISH.
They had at least three sons, Thomas, William and James. Interested in parents
of William Sr. and other siblings as well as other lines of family. Willing
to share info. with other researchers.

O'KENNON, KARNAN - O'KENNON,
Barney born in Longford County, Ireland in about 1800 and came to this country
around 1835-36. He settled in Amelia County and married Frances (Fanny) Vaughan
in 1840. His marriage license has the name KARNAN on it. Barney could neither
read nor write and this name was written by the Clerk of the Court. We believe
his name was Kiernan which probably sounded like Karnan to the clerk. Later,
because of some confusion with a prominet family in the area named "Kennon"
his name evolved into Kennon and then to O'Kennon. Barney and his family
lived in Paineville, Amelia County until 1860-61, when they moved to Chesterfield
County. Any information about Barney O'Kennon/Kiernan/Karnan would be
appreciated.

GANT - Looking for information on GANT's. Elijah
GANT was born around 1815 in VA. He married Nancy F HART in Caroline CO,
VA December 20, 1850. They were the parents of five chilren that we know
of; Beuragard GANT, Oliver James GANT, Henry C GANT, Elijah GANT, and William
Lewis GANT. We know that Henry C, Elijah Jr and William Lewis GANT were all
born in Richmond.

HILL - Seeking information about James W. Hill
who was born about 1815, possibly in Mecklenburg County. James could have
been the son of an Edward HILL who was born in this county about 1777. Edward
married Jemima Blankenship in July of 1802. Children listed for Edward: Francis,
Jemima, Nancy, James, Joseph, and William. There may also have been a Reuben
HILL related to Edward HILL, and James W. HILL. James married Lavina W. Hearn
in 1839 in Wythe County. Court records indicate that James was also related
to a William HILL of Prince Edward County.

TALLY - Daniel TALLY was listed in Amelia Co.
in 1790 census based on 1782 & 1785 tax lists. I believe he is the father
of my 3 g's grandfather, Elkanah TALLY, born in VA about 1755-60. His death
certificate in 1854 listed his parents as Daniel and Sarah TALLY. Would
appreciate any information on TALLYs in that area in that time frame. thanks.

THOMPSON - Searching for the parents of Thomas
THOMPSON, of Prince Edward County, Virginia. He was born August 13, 1740,
place unknown. Thomas married Nancy Waddill CARTER, daughter of Theodrick
CARTER, in about 1769. Thomas was probably apprenticed to Joel JACKSON, of
Amelia County, Virginia, per 1762-64 tax lists. Thomas son, Carter THOMPSON,
married Nancy MORTON, daughter of Captain John MORTON, in Prince Edward County
in 1797. Thomas' son, James THOMPSON, married Sarah STEEL, widow of Douglass
BAKER, in Prince Edward County in 1797. Thomas and his children moved to
Logan County, Kentucky in about 1806. I have written a 450-page book on the
descendants of Thomas THOMPSON and Nancy Waddill CARTER, but have no information
on the parents of Thomas THOMPSON.

LIGHT - I'm interested in the LIGHT surname in
Amelia County. Also any surname with first name Bridget in Amelia (born about
1720). I have transcribed a list of all the titheables
in Amelia Co Below Deep Creek in 1736, Records prior to 1736 may be found
in Prince George Co or in even Charles City Co. Many of these surnames can
be found in early Charles City Co records or nearby counties. For example
a "John Light" appears in a 1687 Charles City Co patent, in this 1736 Amelia
List, and in a 1746 Lunenburg patent.
